Pigeon Feces Clean Up
9/25/2017 (Permalink)
SERVPRO of Amherst/Clarence responded to a unique cleaning situation where a chimney became the home to some pigeons in a commercial building. Pigeon droppings may pose a health hazard to the public and the feces removal needed to be taken care of immediately. Pigeons can carry diseases and parasites that can be transmitted to humans including histoplasmosis, cryptococcosis and psittacosis. SERVPRO of Amherst/Clarence understood their concern and put together a safe action plan for removal. A pigeon can produce 25 pounds of droppings a year and this chimney was filled. The SERVPRO professionals donned on their personal protective equipment and followed a strict protocol for removal. All areas were treated with an antimicrobial product to kill and disease. A 10-yard dumpster was filled with over 750 pounds of pigeon feces. SERVPRO of Amherst/Clarence has the training and expertise to help make it “Like it never even happened.” Have Questions?
